About us

Founder’s Story

Dr. Maheen Noorani is a special education consultant and autism specialist dedicated to supporting neurodivergent children and their families. With dual master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from Columbia University, along with a Doctorate in Education, she combines deep academic expertise with lived experience as a mother of two children with autism. Her work includes developmental assessments, designing classroom structures, developing IEPs and curricula, planning behavioural interventions, and providing teacher training, autism guidance, and parent coaching grounded in practical, evidence-based approaches.

Dr. Noorani has also worked extensively in the United States, collaborating with mainstream early childhood educators to build inclusive classroom environments. She has trained teachers in implementing structured, evidence-based strategies that support not only children with developmental challenges but also typically developing children who may struggle with attention, sensory regulation, movement needs, emotional regulation, or social skills. Her approach focuses on empowering teachers with adaptable tools that enhance engagement, participation, and wellbeing in everyday classroom settings.

As the founder of Funclusion, she created Pakistan’s first inclusive recreational space where inclusion and play come together. Designed for children of all abilities, Funclusion offers a sensory-rich environment that encourages natural learning, regulation, and discovery. Through its programs and services, she aims to strengthen children’s growth across home and school while building more inclusive communities.
